The Story Behind NexGen Panel Mentoring: Built from Experience, Driven by Passion
In 2016, my small, four-person electrical control panel manufacturing business, Automated Drive Systems, took a bold step by investing in a Steinhauer ModCenter CNC machine. This transformative technology dramatically reduced the time required to modify and prepare electrical enclosures, streamlining our manufacturing process. By 2020, we expanded further, adopting EPLAN software and embracing a Lean mindset. These investments, combined with ongoing process optimization and additional machinery, fueled significant growth and efficiency in our operations.
Our journey also brought us into contact with many companies in the electrical control panel industry. Through hundreds of tours and conversations, we saw a recurring challenge: while companies could envision the benefits of a digitally guided, efficient manufacturing operation, the path to achieving it was far more complex. Transitioning from traditional manufacturing methods to scalable, high-performing operations requires more than just an investment in software and machines—it demands real-world guidance from those who’ve been through it.
