Brenden’s Story
The Story Behind NexGen Panel Mentoring: Built from Experience, Driven by Passion.
My journey in the automation and controls industry began at the age of 10, working in my father’s business specializing in variable frequency drives. From commissioning systems to building panels, I developed a passion that has shaped my career and guided every step of my professional path.
In 2016, I took a bold step with my small, four-person business, Automated Drive Systems, by investing in a Steinhauer ModCenter CNC machine. This transformative technology significantly reduced the time required to prepare electrical enclosures, streamlining our manufacturing process. By June 2020, we expanded further, adopting EPLAN® software and embracing a Lean mindset. This combination, along with further investments in machinery and process optimization, fueled tremendous growth and positioned us as a model for modern electrical control panel manufacturing.
These changes gave us the opportunity to share our journey with many companies referred to tour our facility. We learned that while businesses recognize the potential of Lean principles, digital tools, and advanced machinery, they often struggle with the complex transition from traditional manufacturing methods to scalable, efficient operations.
At its core, this transformation involves more than purchasing software or machines—it requires a shift in culture, mindset, and processes. Concepts like one-piece flow and cell-based manufacturing, enabled by digital guidance from tools like EPLAN, allow teams to train quickly, regardless of prior experience. This approach replaces the traditional one-person, one-panel model, reducing reliance on tribal knowledge and individual heroics while enabling scalable, efficient production.
Driven by my passion for connecting people, processes, and technology, I founded NexGen Panel Mentoring. My goal is to help others navigate this exciting transformation, empowering businesses to create innovative, high-performing manufacturing operations that redefine the standards for the industry.
